Our Story
Before The Flaming Fish ever hit the streets as a food truck or opened its doors downtown, it started in the place where all great family traditions begin- Our Home.
What began as weekend fish fry's for friends, neighbors, and anyone who walked through the Johnson families door, quickly grew into something bigger. Word spread fast and before we knew it, we were serving our seafood favorites at some of Buffalo's beloved festivals - Juneteenth, Taste of Buffalo, Pine Grill Jazz Reunion, Food Truck Tuesdays at Larkin Square and other major concerts and community event's across the city.
It wasn't easy work but we did it together, as a family: Husband and wife, Shonell and Deanna Johnson along with their three children, Ariana, Imari, and Amaya and Grandma Anna.
Everyone had their role, everyone helped, and every plate was made with Love, Team Work, and Flaming Hot!
In 2014 fueled by the community support and a dream bigger than our kitchen, we launched The Flaming Fish food truck. The streets became our home base, and Buffalo showed up for us every step of the way. After years of rolling through the city, serving long lines and meeting incredible people, we opened our brick- and mortar location at 535 Main Street.
Today, The Flaming Fish is a reflection of everything that built us: family, flavor, community, and hard work. Whether you've known us since the festival days, followed the food truck, or just discovered us on Main Street - welcome to The Flaming Fish. We love you all for your support and patronage.
